History
The present temple was rebuilt in the 18th century by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar in red volcanic rock.
Architecture
South-Indian-influenced stone temple with finely carved pillars and a layered shikhara.
Legend & tradition
Named after the devotee Kusuma (Ghushma), whose unwavering devotion is said to have brought Shiva to manifest here.
